I watched yu yu hakusho! ~I really enjoyed that one. Favorite anime of all time.
Starting watch Inuyasha its okay so far..
Rurouni Kenshin watched the first 11 episodes seems a little too happy go lucky for me.
-Sounds like a Narutard-
But you should watch Naruto.
As overrated and spewed over the internet as it is, it has a good mix of action and romance.
Just take a look at all the pairing fights everywhere
erm inuyasha i dont recommend if your into the ‘romantic’ type anime =o
(like i am)
but its on my favorites list ^^

Vampire Knight is a good choice! It’s an amazing Manga!
And you could always check out Bleach!!!. That show is amazing too!
Blood Plus!!!! Blood Plus has the best mix of action and romance of any anime I have ever seen. It begins with the protagonist, Saya Otonashi, randomly slashing people, covered in blood (this is explained satisfactorily later). Also, in the VERY FIRST EPISODE, she receives a VERY romantic kiss from her handsome sidekick/lover Haji, who she has tragically forgotten about (this is explained later as well). Later there is a very vampire knight-esque love triangle between Saya, Haji, and another character, who also acts nobly and is handsome.
I would also recommend Shakugan no Shana and DNAngel, they have about equal romance and action and they are for a slightly younger audience than Blood Plus.
