What is a cute collection to start for my little godchild?

LA asked:

I want to start getting her something every year for Christmas, besides her gift, that she can collect. What are some cute ideas that won’t get in the way or make to much clutter?

after a while believe me it will clutter up no matter what it is from a paper to a bear it will.
but you can give her stuff with her fav. character on it. also maybe a picture of her in a special occasion once a year.

They may take up a little room, but I was given porcelain dolls every year from my grandmother, I now have 24 and they are my most prized possessions…I was thinking about doing something like that with my daughter when she is born. Good luck!

Well if its for Christmas, why not an ornament. Something that has her interest for that year. If shes into dance then ballet slippers, and they always have different ornaments with the year on them. I’m sure anything you get her will be special to her.

my husband’s aunt gets him an ornament every year. it’s kind of cool b/c now that we are married we have all the ornaments from when he was a kid till now. it’s neat to see how they changed through the years as he got older and had different interests.

Let’s say you decide on a doll collection.
Let her open it when you celebrate Christmas and have a picture taken with you and her holding the doll. Put the doll and picture in a box and do this every year until she’s sixteen then give her the whole collection?

There are these little porceline dolls, bout 5 inches, you can find them at Hallmark. They have the childs age on them, I think up til 15. You could get her one of those every year.

My grandma gave me a Christmas ornament every year (at least one). She gave it to me before Christmas so that I could hang it on the tree. Then when I left home I had quite a few Christmas ornaments from my grandma to hang on my own tree. I cherish those especially since she is gone. These wouldn’t be displayed all year long so would take up less space than other things.

I had an add a pearl necklace that I was given. I got it with one pearl when i was a year old and my grandmother added a pearl to it every year. just small pearls but when i got married last year i wore it and it was really special to me. it had 21 pearls byt that time. when she found out i was wearing it for my wedding she bought me a set of earrings to match. it doesn’t take up a lot of room and is something special that a little girl can always have.

Dolls are always great. Or you can get her a certain stuffed animal brand or start a collection of stuffed animals as in certain animals. Depends what her personality is and what she likes.

I agree with the answers of either an ornament, or a charm bracelet. Something she will still have and want when she’s older.
I would stay away from figurines (like Precious Moments) or things she will outgrow. Better to get things she will grow into.

an ornament with the date on it, a special book signed by you, a scrapbook page every year and you can give her the entire book when she’s older
