Chow Chow The Cute Fuzzy Dog

Thursday, April 30th, 2009
George Wood asked:

The Chow Chow originated in China. This dog breed is classified as a member of the Non-Sporting group by the American Kennel Club. They were used as hunting dogs in China. They were brought to England by Asian sailors. Chow Chows are seventeen to twenty inches high and weigh around forty five to seventy pounds.

It has a thick double coat which comes in different colors like blue, black, cream or cinnamon, though the red Chow Chow is most common. They have a back tongue with a blue tint. Their blue tongue is totally normal and you should not be concerned about it. They have down turned lips which give them a misleading angry appearance. They also have a curling tail over its back.

These dogs love to play with children though they do not go well with other dogs or pets. They can become unfriendly to people outside the family. The dog may bully you if you are an inexperienced dog owner. You will have to be strict with these dogs else they will dominate you. You must make sure that they follow all your commands in a proper way.

Chow Chows are not suitable for apartment life. A small fenced yard is ideal for them. However if you live in an apartment, then you must take your dog for regular walks. Do not allow your dog to run loose in the park, they are known for their ferociousness towards other dogs. They are not very energetic animals and require little exercise. To socialize your puppy, you should get them enrolled into puppy obedience classes. They will receive obedience training and the classes will make sure that they do not grow up to be dangerous or aggressive to strangers.

These dogs do not eat a lot. You should feed your dog with proper nutritious food whether it is a young dog or an adult one. They have thick coats and so they require regular grooming. Their coats are hard to brush because they are so dense. They should not spend too much time outside in summers since their thick coat does not prevent them from heat and they can have problems. They are also prone to develop hip dysplasia and knee joint problems.

Chow Chows are these cute, fuzzy bear like dogs who can be your perfect companion. They have a bit of an attitude problem, and if you are okay with it, then they can be your perfect dog. There is nothing like hugging these small dogs on a winter night!

Dress Up Tips For Your Cute Chihuahua Puppies

Thursday, April 16th, 2009
Clarence Clark asked:

Most people dress up their cute Chihuahua puppies for the reason of following the latest fashion trends, seeking to bring out an even greater element of cuteness from their Chihuahua puppies. Unknown to most however, dressing up your Chihuahua puppies in the latest fashion trends is also beneficial in protecting them against the weather. With thin coats of hair, even for the Long-haired Chihuahua, Chihuahua puppies have little protection against cold weather which leaves them vulnerable to all sorts of illnesses. In dressing up your Chihuahua puppy, it is important to place careful consideration for the local climate and weather when making such decisions.

Priority must be given to comfort over style when choosing a suitable outfit for your Chihuahua puppy. While most would agree that a dress would look adorable for a Chihuahua puppy, it serves little purpose in protecting your little pooch from the harsh cold of winter. Also, it is important to check that your Chihuahua puppy is not allergic to outfits made from particular fabrics. Always allow your Chihuahua puppy to try on a new outfit for a short period of time in order to determine if your little pooch is allergic to that particular fabric. Observe signs of rash, irritation or whining. If such signs are visible, then perhaps it would be a good idea to change to another outfit of choice rather than the one chosen.

Choice of material is an important factor and consideration should be given to the local climate when choosing an outfit. Cotton is a good choice of fabric for an outfit in places with milder temperature. In areas with a colder climate, wool would be a better choice to keep your Chihuahua puppy warm, especially during winter. Accessories such as paw boots should also be worn to protect your Chihuahua puppy’s paws against snow. Careless selection of clothes would often lead to discomfort, and in certain cases, detrimental results such as overheating in instances where thick Chihuahua clothing is worn in countries with warm temperatures.

Common choices of Chihuahua clothing include T-shirts, sweaters, hoodies and raincoats. Most T-shirts are made from lightweight materials such as cotton and allow protection against cold and the sun in countries with milder temperatures. In countries with cooler temperatures, sweaters, hoodies and raincoats provide greater protection against the weather elements by keeping your Chihuahua puppy warm in the cold of winter. It would also be a good idea to place reflective stickers on the clothes of your Chihuahua puppy to increase their visibility to motorists at night when walking them. This would decrease the chances of an accident occurring should your Chihuahua puppy stray from the sidewalk onto the road. Ideally, the choice of clothing and accessories to be worn should reflect the personality and gender of your Chihuahua puppy. Accessories such as semi-precious stones and glitter on outfits would obviously suit a female Chihuahua puppy better than a male puppy.

Comfort and practicality should always rank on top of the priority where Chihuahua dressing is concerned. Such consideration is the key to a healthy, happy Chihuahua puppy.

There are various animals that people love to adopt and one of the animals that are wanted is kittens. These cute little mischievous kittens are considered as being suitable for adoption. When you look at kittens for adoption purposes there are various breeds that you will find as being suited for your lifestyle.

The many breeds of kittens for adoption are ones like tortoiseshell kittens, Siamese kittens, Persian kittens, and other varieties. When you are considering adopting a kitten you should first see what the requirements that kittens need for their care are. These various care requirements include a place for your kitten to sleep in the night and one for the day.

The foods that kittens need should be seen to before you make any decisions about adopting any type of kitten. You can ask pet shelter staff and your vet about the various needs of the kittens for adoption that you will see in these places. These needs will include some toys that you can fix in your rooms for the kitten to play with.

Some of these toys will need to be impregnated with catnip as kittens and cats go wild about catnip. There should be a scratching post so that your kitten will have place to run their claws over. Besides seeing to their physical activity level, kittens for adoption need to have a schedule that they can become familiar with.

This means that when you take your potential new family member home you should let the kitten become familiar with your home and garden. Let the kitten see you go about your ordinary routine. For instance the times that you get out of bed maybe leisurely or they may be hurried. In these moments you will have a small amount of time to look after the needs of your kitten.

When both you and your kitten are familiar with your routine and there are no real problems developing from the kittens for adoption trial period, you will be able to fill out the forms that will allow you to become the actual owner of these mischievous little bundles of fur.

As there are so many facts to be considered before you become the owner of a kitten you may want some time to think about all of these facts. Once you have made your decisions about looking for kittens for adoption you can see the various ones that are just waiting at animal shelters.

Chihuahua Names: Cute Dog Names for the Little Guy

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009
Richard Livitski asked:

Owning a Chihuahua can be quite an adventure, as I’m sure most owners of this breed can attest to.

On one hand you’ve got this cute little dog that everyone wants to hold and pet. On the other hand, if you’re a stranger, you’ll be lucky to have four fingers left when you try, because it might just bite one off. This is because of the Chihuahuas extreme loyalty to those he’s familiar with, and his not appreciating what he feels might be an infringement of his territory.

Chihuahuas can also be an adventure to own simply by virtue of their attitudes. Hang around one for any length of time and you’ll notice that this little dog doesn’t seem to know that it’s little! Because of this, they’re often referred to as the little dog, with the big dog attitude. They can be aggressive toward other pets, and can bark up a storm over the littlest thing, which in most cases is bigger than the actual dog itself.

Even though the above mentioned characteristics can be interesting to say the least, more endearing qualities are those of the Chihuahuas extreme loyalty to those he’s familiar with. Also, this puppy has a high energy level and spunk, that can brighten anyone’s day.

Because of these diverse qualities, naming this pooch can prove a bit of a challenge. Should you choose any dog name? Or look for Chihuahua Names that best reflect it’s small size, or even it’s humorous big dog attitude?

Since we felt this unique pooch deserves a unique name, we’ve come up with some Chihuahua dog name suggestions that cover both it’s small size and it’s big attitude. Here’s some ideas from our dog names website …

Dog Names That Sound Small…

Bambi, Bonbon, Bugsy, Butterball, Button, Cuddles, Doodle, Gumball, Junior, Kewpie, Laptop, Munchkin, Nibbles, Nipper, Peanut, Peewee, Puddles, Putt-Putt, Squeaky, Squirt, Tinkerbell

Dog Names That Sound Big…

Attila, Big Shot, Boomer, Bruno, Bunyan, Butkus, Capone, Genghis, Grizzly, Hercules, Hulk, Jaws, Kahuna, Kong, Manley, Moose, Muscles, Rambo, Samson, Sarge, Stallion, Sumo, Terminator, Ulysses, Wookie, Yukon, Zeus

In closing, it’s important to remember that when naming any dog, Chihuahua or otherwise, not to give him a name that might cause him to be mocked or made fun of. When searching for the perfect male or female Chihuahua name, these names were suggested hoping to get your creative juices flowing, and start you off on the right paw.

When Richard Livitski isn’t busy digging up Chihuahua Names, he’s working on his dog names website http://www.dog-names-and-more.com where dog names as well as grooming, training, and dog care tips can be found.

Cute Cum Comfortable Baby Daywear and Nightwear

Thursday, February 19th, 2009
Daniel Spivey asked:

Choosing and buying baby wear is not an easy task and quite confusing. Striking a balance between practical and cute, fashionable and comfortable, night and day can all play their part in affecting decisions on what baby clothes to buy, and in what quantity. Choosing a baby’s clothes is really important. Heavier clothes really burden the child. Great care must be taken to choose the appropriate cloth for the child.

All of these difficulties in choosing baby clothes are made worse by the fact that babies grow so quickly. Clothes that would fit for the next few months if at all possible, must be bought.  Baby will basically need three types of clothes: daytime clothes, night wear or sleepwear, and clothes for going out.  The baby sleepwear will likely outweigh the other categories, as sleeping is what a baby does most of their time in the early stages.

The clothes for the baby to wear around the home should be comfortable, easy to access for changing diapers, and simple. These are the clothing articles that your baby will spend most of her time in, so they are bound to get dirty.  The best clothes for day to day needs are probably simple body suits. Onesies is a brand name, but the term has stuck as a description for this type of one piece baby wear.

Baby clothing for sleeping should meet some of the same needs as the daywear, at least in terms of comfort, and accessibility for changing.  A warm climate place may require similar clothes night and day. However, colder region with colder nights need a warmer version of the day wear and for the night heavier knit pajamas or similar sleepwear.

Outdoor baby wear gives a chance to the parents to dress baby up to look smart and nice.  Very stylish and bright colors can be selected and bought for outwear for glittering appearance and for identification. The baby will not understand what’s going on, but should sense the fun and companionship, so it will form a part of the baby’s learning.

Care should be taken towards the material used for your baby’s costume. Many store bought costumes are made of synthetic materials that are highly flammable, and also not very breathable for baby’s sensitive skin. It is also to be ensured that the costume appropriate for the weather that time of year.

Baby clothes are great to give as gifts. Think humorous Onesies, whimsical baby tees, and sweet ensembles guaranteed to delight  a baby. Look for baby clothes that are crafted from soft material specifically selected for baby’s delicate skin.

Luxurious baby sweater is 100% cotton and boasts timeless style for a fabulous baby shower gift. It is soft and soothing on a little one’s skin. Available in a variety of colors, this high-end roll neck sweater can be personalized with the baby’s name or initials in the thread color of your choice. Charming and adorable for everyday wear, this sweater is also a memorable keepsake.

Cute Dog Names For Your Puppy

Saturday, February 7th, 2009
Ryan Moxie asked:

So you find yourself in need of some great dog names for your new puppy. Were you thinking of going with something popular, like Jake or Sadie, or are you worried about using a name that others around you are sure to have, too. We don’t want to confuse the dogs, do we? Maybe you would rather go with something more unique, like Adolphina or Tyrannosaurus Rex, but those are almost tongue twisters, and you want to be able to say your dog’s name, don’t you? One thing is for sure; your puppy is the cutest thing ever, right? So how about finding cute dog names for your little furball?

Television and movies are full of cute these days. On TV you can’t turn the channel without finding cute sitcoms or stand up comics doing their thing. Reality television is even getting cuter. Last Comic Standing is a big hit, while judges Sharon and Paula are all kinds of cute. Who is your favorite cute TV personality and do they have cute dog names? Idol’s Simon is America’s most loved and hated TV judge. He’s mean but oh so cute at the same time. Simon is a cute name for a big, lovable, bruiser of a dog. Who’s cuter than Kelly from Married with Children? Kelly is also a great name for an Irish Setter. Maybe you like big, lovable guys like Larry the Cable Guy? How about Larry the Bulldog, they do kind of resemble one another, in a big, burly, lovable kind of way.

When you think of Larry, what comes to mind? Redneck comedy, of course. There aren’t many cute dog names cuter than the names rednecks come up with. Boy redneck pups could be named Tater, Stinky, Gater, Outlaw, Critter, Possum, Trigger, or, well, Redneck. Your female redneck pup could be named for the Hee Haw girls, like Barbie, Gunilla, Minnie, Misty, or LuLu.

If you’re not ready to admit you’ve got a little bit of redneck in you then we’ll have to find some other sources for cute dog names. I’ve made it my mission to ask everyone I know what their dog’s name is and why did they pick it. Here are some of my results.

Simba, a Disney fan and the pup resembled a lion cub.

Cooper, small dog, small car, they were a great pair.

Piddley, for obvious reasons.

Bandit, because he kept stealing things and hiding them.

Oliver, he was an orphan until we brought him home.

Coach, Prada, and Louis, they were very expensive dogs.

Jellybean, was born on Easter.

Scooby and Scrappy, these two hounds can solve any mystery if there is a treat waiting for them.

Tonka, thought it was fitting for our Toy Poodle.

Candi, a prissy little Yorkie.

Taboo, this Pit Bull is just not accepted everywhere.

Tank, the Bulldog that looked like a tank.

Cute dog names are all around you. Look in the pantry or the closet, check with nature or in your favorite book. It won’t be long before you will be able to make your own list of cute dog names.

Kittens are Born Cute

Friday, January 30th, 2009
Tom Chapman asked:

Many have experienced the pleasure of owning a cat. Most of us would classify a kitten as "cute." A tiny kitten can leave the mother cat at approximately eight to twelve weeks of age and come to live with its new owner.

Usually the mother cat gives birth to from two to five kittens at a time. The gestation period is eight to nine weeks in length. At birth they will be helpless without nursing and care given by the mother cat. For these reasons the kitten should be left with its mother for eight weeks or longer. As human babies do, the kitten receives antibodies from the milk which protects him from infection later on in life. The newborn kitten is blind for the first seven to ten days of his life. It takes about ten weeks for full visual capabilities to develop.

What we view as fighting among litter mates is part of early development. They play games that simulate hunting and stalking behavior. Predatory nature is intuitive to cats. Before being domesticated cats were skilled hunters of smaller animals regarding them as a food source.

The kittens begin to wean at three to four weeks of age. Complete weaning is usually accomplished by the age of eight weeks. Just as some human children will live at home long after maturity, some kittens stay with the mother cat until sexual maturity. As mentioned, they can be safely separated from the mother at about eight weeks of age. It is however, considered optimal for them to stay with the mother longer. About twelve weeks is best.

In some locations it is illegal to separate them from the mother before the age of eight weeks.

Your new kitten will benefit greatly from vaccinations against:

* Feline viral rhinotracheitis

* Feline calicirirus

* Feline panleukopenia

Kittens should be wormed at approximately one month of age to eliminate roundworms.

Spaying or neutering is highly recommended both for docile behavior and simply because there are too many unwanted cats and kittens being euthanized. This is an ongoing problem which can be alleviated by a little birth control among cats.

While all kittens are adorable and capable of chasing a ball of yarn around the house, you may choose to purchase a pedigreed breed. Many breeds of cats are registered the same way dogs are, with verifiable blood lines and registration papers.

One special breed of cat is the Persian, characterized by a short muzzle and long luxurious white hair. The typical Persian cat has a sophisticated and somewhat snobby appearance. They do make excellent pets. They love to be taken on your lap and petted for long periods of time. From ancient Persia (which is now of course Turkey) the first documented Persian cats were introduced to Italy in 1620. They were next exported to France then Britain. Originally interbred with Turkish Angoras their appearance has been altered through selective breeding to the modern Persian Longhair. Their short muzzle has become a health problem as their faces grew flatter over the generations. The modern line of Persians have breathing problems because of the structure of their faces and muzzles.

At a purebred cat show you will see winning Persian cats with short legs, a wide head with large eyes and an exaggerated shortened muzzle. The first documentation of Persians being registered with the Cat Fanciers Association was in 1871 when they began to keep records. This pet requires daily care and a monthly bath to keep its long white fur in pristine condition. If you choose a kitten of this breed, plan on setting aside time for daily grooming and giving it lots of petting and affection. You’ll be rewarded with a long-time companion since their life span is from ten to nineteen years. They are sedentary and affectionate pets when fully grown.

Caring For Your Cute Baby Huskies

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009
Clarence Clark asked:

Baby huskies often bring an abundance of joy to the family that adopts them. These cute puppies however, require much more attention than adult huskies in order for them to grow healthily into full grown dogs. Improper care of your cute baby huskies can often lead to illnesses and even stunted growth. We provide you with useful information for caring for your cute baby huskies.

Your baby husky emerges into this world with an under developed coat of fur. As such, it would require the warmth of its mother as it is still unable to produce sufficient body heat. Leave your baby husky next to its mother and sufficiently line the kennels with towels and heating pads. This is important as insufficient warmth would result in your baby husky developing severe bouts of chill.

It is important for your baby husky to be fed ample supplies of milk from its mother as it is still not ready to consume dog food of any sort. When the mother husky has run out of milk, consult your vet for a commercially available puppy formula. Never let your baby puppy consume milk formula for human babies as it would often lead to indigestion in the baby husky. In general, puppy formula requires conditioning to get used to, thus always prepare early so that in the initial stage you would be able to feed your husky puppy with a mix of its mother’s milk as well as commercially available formula.

Visits to the vet are a must for your husky puppy. This should take the form of a general checkup and subsequent regular scheduled checkups. For the general checkup, bring along a sample of your baby husky’s stool for the prescription of an appropriate de-wormer. At six to eight weeks old, another visit is necessary for vaccination purposes. In general, vets dispense valuable advice concerning the raising of your baby husky into full-grown adults. In addition, they may also provide valuable suggestions on issues such as the nutritional needs of your cute baby huskies.

It is important for the mother husky to clean its babies. This not only serves to keep the baby husky clean, but also to stimulate the puppy’s bowel and urinary functions. These are important to the baby husky’s overall health as failure to do so would often result in complicated health-related problems in the long run. You could also assist the puppy’s bowel function by gently rubbing your puppy’s genital area.

Ultimately, caring for your cute baby huskies is not something that can be done easily. Rather, it requires a great deal of time and commitment. From this point of view, people should not consider getting baby huskies simply because of their cuteness, but should give such a decision careful thought before getting huskies as pets. For those who are able to put in the necessary time, effort and commitment, you would definitely be rewarded amply as you watch your cute baby huskies grow healthily into full-grown adults. You would then be able to enjoy a fulfilling long term relationship with your huskies.

Points to Consider When Looking for Cute Dog Names

Monday, January 12th, 2009
Ling Tong asked:

Of course everyone that brings home a cute cuddly puppy wants a cute name for the family pet. Everyone will have a different idea for a name, all of which are cute dog names. However, choosing a name for the puppy is not a decision you should take lightly. You need to take some time to get to know the puppy before finally giving it a name.

Some of the points that you need to consider in the naming process are:

- The gender of the dog. This is important because you don’t want to give a male dog a female name or vice versa. If you are not sure, turn the puppy over on its back to see if it has a scrotum between the hind legs. If it does, then you know that you need to think of names for male dogs.

- The size of the dog. This does not mean the size of the puppy as it is when you bring it home because all puppies are small dogs, What you have to consider id the size the dog will be when it is fully grown. Giving a name such as Goliath to a Chihuahua may be funny, but it could also be a reflection on you making others think you are poking fun at the dog’s size. You should also avoid using names that are babyish and that your dog will outgrow before long. A Husky puppy may be fluffy, but it doesn’t remain that way for long.

- Character. Your dog’s name could be a potential character reference. Naming the dog Killer or Attacker, for example, leads everyone else to think that this is a vicious dog. On the other hand a watchdog should not have the name of Pookie or Maggie. You need to take some time to research the characteristics of the dog breed and watch how it behaves before you decide on a name.

- Easy to Hear. Experts recommend using names with consonants, such as “k”. “t” and “d”. Dogs can hear these consonants above all other sounds, so using a name with these letters will make it easier to train the dog to recognize its name. Keep the name short so that it is easy to say. When you are outside, your dog will hear you calling it much easier if it is a short name of only one or two syllables. In the case of purebred, registered dogs, although they have a long name for registration, you can shorten that to one that is easy to say. Above all, you shouldn’t choose a name that you will be embarrassed about when you have to call out to the dog when there are other people around.

- Stick to the Name. Once you choose a name stick with it and don’t change your mind after a few weeks. By this time the dog probably knows its name and will become confused when you start calling it by another name.

- Don’t confuse with training words. Think about the words you will need to use when training your dog, such as Sit, Fetch, Come, and Stay. Try not to choose a name that is similar in sound with one of these words. If you do, you will likely encounter difficulty in training because the dog will not be able to hear the differences in the sounds.
